Information On How Home Business Owners Can Win The Fight With Procrastination

The biggest challenge for a home based business owner is coming to terms with the easy way to manage time, is procrastination. There are theories that say procrastination is interlinked with depression, and some say it’s a learned reply. One thing is certain; the less you procrastinate, the more effectively you are able to manage your time.

There are 4 themes connected to procrastination. There is the Self-Doubting Procrastinator, who fears he will fail at his task so he second-guesses himself out of taking steps. There is the discomfort Dodger, who avoids activities that cause hysteria or discomfort. There is the Guilt-Driven Person, who feels guilty about putting off crucial tasks but continues to procrastinate to bypass the pressing guilt. Finally, There is the habitual Procrastinator, one who has procrastinated so many times the action has become routine, just part of the individual.

the problem of procrastination is not like alcoholism or drug addiction where folk reject it is part of who they may be; rather, it’s a personality feature that is often accepted by society. Folk are usually given extensions on their papers, are commended for last minute efforts at projects, or excused for being late to appointments. However, procrastination can be a serious problem for a home-based business owner as it could be a force that really drives down profits and can even cause a business to fail. Fortunately there are steps that folks can take to solve the problem of procrastination.

The first step toward breaking the procrastination spell is to make a to-do-list. The list doesn’t have to be in order, but it needs to be somewhere visible so that it can function as a unceasing reminder of what must be done. Once you have made a list, it might be nice if you could prioritize that list. You might rank your tasks by cut-off point or what is thought to be most crucial. You may also invest in a large calendar that may be a steady source for dates and writing notes. You want to put the calendar in a place that is common, so that it can be seen regularly and not hidden by a closed door and forgotten. If you have got a punctuality problem when it comes to time and cut offs, you can up your deadlines by a couple of days and set your clocks ahead by ten minutes. When you psychologically think that the new time and cut off point are the right ones, you’ll find yourself relieved that you not only made your cut off point, but you did it early and now you have sparetime.

The bottom line is that no one enjoys procrastinating, and if you are an incessant procrastinator you might jeopardize areas of your life. Procrastinators are generally considered untrustworthy, unpredictable, and unsound. If you can change and begin to be progressive, you’ll find that your cottage business may end up with increased profits, not to mention the additional time you may have to to spend with your mates and family.
